Auto-Call Detection
Clearminutes can detect when a video call starts and automatically begin recording, so you never miss a meeting.
Pro Feature
Auto-call detection requires a Pro subscription. Upgrade →
How It Works
When enabled, Clearminutes monitors for video call activity on your device:
- A supported video call app opens or joins a meeting
- Clearminutes detects the call and shows a notification
- You can accept (start recording) or dismiss (skip)
- If accepted, recording starts automatically with the meeting name from the call
Supported Call Apps
Enable Auto-Call Detection
- Go to Settings → Recordings
- Find Auto-Call Detection (marked with a Pro badge)
- Toggle ON
- Choose which apps to monitor (all are enabled by default)

Auto-Join
When auto-join is enabled, Clearminutes starts recording automatically without asking:
- Go to Settings → Recordings → Auto-Join
- Toggle ON
- Clearminutes records every detected call without confirmation
Use auto-join when you want to capture every call. Use detection-only when you want to choose which calls to record.
Meeting Names
Clearminutes attempts to read the meeting title from the call app window:
- Zoom: Reads the window title (e.g., "Zoom Meeting: Sprint Planning")
- Teams: Reads the meeting title (e.g., "Weekly Standup - Microsoft Teams")
- Google Meet: Reads the tab title from Chrome/Edge
- Slack: Reads the huddle channel name
If the title can't be determined, the meeting is named with the app and timestamp (e.g., "Zoom Call - 2025-01-24 10:30").
Privacy
Auto-call detection works entirely locally:
- No screen recording or keylogging
- Only reads window titles to detect call apps
- Does not access call content, contacts, or calendar
- You choose whether to accept or dismiss each detection
- Auto-join can be disabled at any time
Troubleshooting
Calls not detected
- Verify auto-call detection is enabled in Settings → Recordings
- Check that the call app is supported (see table above)
- On macOS: ensure Clearminutes has the necessary permissions (System Settings → Privacy & Security → Accessibility)
- On Windows: run Clearminutes as administrator if detection fails
- Restart Clearminutes after enabling the feature for the first time
Wrong meeting name
- Clearminutes reads the window/tab title from the call app
- If the app doesn't set a meaningful title, the fallback name (app + timestamp) is used
- You can rename the meeting manually after recording
Detecting calls when not in a call
- Some apps show a window even when idle (e.g., Teams main window)
- Clearminutes filters common false positives
- If false detections persist, disable that app in detection settings
